Do you have arthritis in the joint of the big toe? Is it affecting your everyday life?

Arthritis can be painful as it is worn down cartilage tissue located within the joint. Prevea podiatrists can help to relieve that pain, increase your range of motion and improve your quality of life with a new, state-of-the-art, synthetic cartilage implant.

Prevea has the region’s first podiatrists to perform the cartilage toe implant procedure.

The Cartiva® Synthetic Cartilage Implant replaces the damaged cartilage surface of the big toe to help relieve the pain and stiffness caused by worn cartilage. Unlike a fusion (which locks the joint in place), the cartilage implant:

  • Significantly reduces or eliminates your joint pain without sacrificing your foot's natural movement
  • Allows your joint to move naturally so you can retain mobility and range of motion
  • Allows you to place your full weight on your foot  immediately after the procedure without a cast

"I was experiencing extreme pain in my left foot at the joint of my toe. I couldn’t walk anymore, couldn’t move my toe and couldn’t put weight on it. I was actually walking on the outside of my foot because I couldn’t put any pressure on my big toe or on the inside of my foot as I had really sharp pain. It is not worth living with that kind of pain every day. I knew it was time for surgery.

After surgery, the sharp pain was gone. Two and a half weeks later, I was able to put on a regular shoe; and three weeks later, I had no pain at all – not even when walking. Now I can get back to doing the things I enjoy, like walking my dog every day."
